A few years ago I was traveling in Southern CA & was feeling the need to push out on a looooong bike ride. Big rides in new places have the potential for being kinda tricky (in that, ggoody, Ifm lost AGAIN!h kind of way.) The fact that I was deep in auto-traffic infested, Southern California, ratcheted the difficulty level for finding a memorable ride all the way up to eleven.

I pulled off the freeway and stumbled into a standard looking strip mall. With intentions of simply finding someone I could ask for directions to the nearest bike shop, I was blown away when, as chance would have it, only a handful of parking spots away lay Anthonyfs Cyclery. I stumbled in, hopeful they could give me some brief directions. Point me North kinda stuff. Fifteen minutes later I rolled out of the shop & into the bright sun with a detailed, local map & a personally designed bike route, courtesy of the shopfs owner, Anthony Zahn.

Three hours later (I said I was going on a gloooong rideh not an gepiiiiiic rideh) I stubled back into Anthonyfs Cyclery with intentions of thanking them with the heavy, cold, box of beer I had lugged over from the local grocery. Upon leaving, much later that evening, I felt as if Ifd just made some life long friends.

Anthony is currently juggling the demands of a business while also pursuing his athletic dreams. Hefs a member of the USA Para-Olympic Cycling Team. Consequently, Anthonyfs on the road a lot. If youfre not lucky enough to catch him at the shop, Ifm sure youfll be properly informed, cared for & entertained by his (in)famously colorful staff (check the gemployeesh section of the shopfs website.)
